I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.
“The flesh tastes like pork, a little bit more bitter, stronger. It tastes quite good,” said German cannibal Armin Meiwes during an interview with Der Spiegel. He is speaking of human flesh, of course.
I’ve never been one to enjoy pork. I guess flesh wouldn’t be high on my list, either.
All day, everyday, no matter the size of the bag itself! There are seven containers of lip balm/gloss/stick and a full set of ICHC buttons. And a hat.
I was on the highway yesterday when a truck tossed a stone at my windshield. I heard it hit but couldn’t see a chip or anything. This afternoon, after a cool night and an unseasonably warm day, I saw the three inch (and growing!) crack.
But on a good note, I received my returned security deposit from the apartment people. It had a note on it thanking me for leaving it in such good condition. (!!!) (If they only knew that the shower curtain rod is Gorilla glued to the wall. Or that the closet shelf support is glued and nailed to the wall where it broke. Or that water came in the windows during the last two heavy rains.)
Let me preface this with two things. One, I fell down the stairs early Saturday morning and am kinda banged up, especially on my right hip. It’s nothing that won’t heal in time, but it hurts to sit, twist, cough or laugh. And two, I usually sleep on my right side.
Last night I was trying to fall asleep and couldn’t get comfortable. Cliff was in his usual spot at the bottom of the bed. (He always sleeps at the bottom of the bed.) It hurt to have the sheets touch me and I was getting really frustrated. AK did all he could with some gentle rubbing, getting me painkillers, and understanding; there wasn’t much else he could do. I was relegated to lying on my back and dealing with the dull ache coursing through my right side. Cliff got up from the bottom of the bed and curled up right at the sore, swollen, and bruised spot. He put a paw on my leg and settled in for the night, as if to say “I knows u has teh pain, but heer mumma, i makes it bettah fuh u”. My eyes teared up and I fell fast asleep. What a good kitty. A good, sweet kitty.
(My Remington is like that, too. Many times I would lie in bed with cramps and he’d curl up right where I needed it the most. Or if I was fighting a bout of insomnia by reading, he’d lay with me until I’d turn out the light then quietly jump from the bed. I call him my Angel boy since he was there so many times when I needed it most. He slept with me the night before moving day, too, just for good measure!)
